Returns oxygenated blood to the left atrium from the superior lobe of the left lung.

• anterior branch
• lingular vein

Radiology

• on contrast-enhanced CT apparently close to hilum
  • distinguish from contrast-enhanced solitary pulmonary nodule (without mention of malignancy) distant from hilum
