- serum sodium: hypernatremia due to loss of electrolyte-free water
- hyperglycemia
- uremia
- glucose in urine*
- urea in urine*
- urine osmolality high
- urine sodium > 20 meq/L
* 2 major non-electrolytes found in urine are urea & glucose
